The Worldwide Pandemic of COVID19, the subsequent lockdowns, and business shutdowns of 2020 caused a drastic shift in customer energy consumption behavior witnessed by utilities throughout North America. Here we examine the shifting baselines, reset assumptions, and the tracking tools utilized to inform upper management & decision makers of dynamic changes in customer load in near-real time.

This session addresses:  

  • AMI data can be utilized quickly & extensively to understand changing customer dynamics in near-real time. 
  • Having an analytics team that can adjust forecasts and transform planned figures is invaluable to understand change in an extremely dynamic environment.
