Brent Baker is the VP – Chief Customer and Innovation Officer for Nashville Electric Service and is responsible for the customer-focused strategy, customer operations, communications, as well as innovation and sustainability efforts. Mr. Baker previously held the position of VP – Chief Customer Officer at City Utilities of Springfield, Missouri and was responsible for improving the customer experience, advanced metering initiatives, and metro transit modernization. Prior to joining City Utilities in May of 2020, Mr. Baker was National Vice President of Customer Experience for Liberty Utilities, based out of Toronto, and oversaw the Customer Experience teams in thirteen States and two Provinces in the U.S., Canada, and Bermuda. Mr. Baker also led the Innovations Team for Liberty Utilities, which was responsible for developing initiatives for the “Utility of The Future”, including Electric Vehicles, MicroGrids, Solar, Storage, and Smart Cities among others.

He began his career at The Empire District Electric Company in 2002. Positions he has held include Senior Structural Engineer, Manager of Construction Design, Director of Customer Service, and Vice President of Customer Service, Transmission and Engineering. Mr. Baker received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering at the Missouri University of Science and Technology. He is registered as a Professional Engineer in Missouri.

Mr. Baker has a strong commitment to community service and had served on the executive committee of the board of the Hawthorn Foundation in Missouri, responsible for statewide business recruitment, retention, and development. He previously served as Chair of several regional economic development partnerships and Chamber of Commerce Boards in Missouri. He also previously served as a board member of Children’s Haven of Southwest Missouri, was the past president and state director for the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers Southwest Chapter, and Co-Founder of the East Town Dreams District neighborhood empowerment district, aiming at supporting a historically underserved neighborhood of in southwest Missouri.
