John Blatchford is a Product Owner at San Diego Gas & Electric where he leads a team of machine learning engineers in the development of production grade systems that are used during fire season to inform emergency response and wildfire mitigation activities. John is a member of the Data Science Alliance, a local non-profit with the goal of fostering responsible data science in industry. Additionally, John is a member of internal SDGE organizations, like the Office of Data Science (ODS) and the AI Center of Excellence, where he is helping SDGE interact with AI responsibly. John has a background in networking and cyber security and previously served in the United States Navy working as a network security engineer. John is passionate about technical work and has previously worked as a data scientist, data engineer, and an AI engineer.
