Karl Grieve is a Manager of Engineering in Operations Performance at Consumers Energy (CE). He began his career in the Transmission Planning department and has held various roles in T&D planning, operations, and analytics over his thirty years with CE.
Currently, he and his Electric Grid Analytics team are focused on analyzing the reliability and capacity of the electric system with an emphasis on studies that model the electric network topology. The team also strives to link various data types such as smart meter data, SCADA telemetry, weather history, work orders, GIS data, and data from various other sources. Integrating the datasets, identifying their interrelationships, and making those visible helps CE more effectively run its business.
Karl has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering and is a licensed professional engineer in Michigan. When not at work, you’ll likely find Karl outside mountain biking or in the winter searching for snow for XC and DH skiing. He and his wife live in Michigan but enjoy travelling widely to experience different cultures through their art, languages, and cuisines.
