Julie Black is an Economist in the Data Analytics and Business Intelligence department at Austin Energy. Her work at Austin Energy includes leading a machine learning project to identify electric vehicle premises based on household load shapes. She also facilitates a weekly Data Enhancement meeting with multiple stakeholders. Additionally, she has worked on customer segmentation, geographical information systems, and time of-use rate impacts on energy consumption and costs to the utility. She has an undergraduate degree in Economics and Philosophy from Columbia University of New York and a master’s degree in Economics at the University of Alabama. She has worked as an Economist at Austin Energy since 2015. Prior to that role, she was a wholesale market economist and rate analyst at the Public Utility Commission of Texas, following her role as a Legislative Aide for the Texas House of Representatives.
